Financial Services And Business Development (Fsbd) Officer (Code: 056-FSBD ROOTS)

General Position Summary 

The FSBD Officer will be responsible for directly working with the communities, financial services providers, and digital marketing providers partners in the program location areas, in close collaboration with the BAPPEDA, District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Other Dairi Regency Government Agencies, Coffee farmers communities, Vulnerable communities, and other stakeholders. S/he will support the Program Coordinator to reach 1,000 coffee farmers (60% women and 40% men) as direct participants and 3,000 coffee farmers family members (60% women and 40% men) as indirect participants within 18 months program implementation through financial literacy training, digital marketing training, use of financial products and services, and use of digital marketing channels. community engagement (assessments, form community resilience committees), capacity building and training, implementation of 

In addition, S/he will support the program coordinator to develop learning documents and share thorough knowledge-sharing events with stakeholders. 

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Work with the Program Coordinator to develop and support the program strategy to deliver financial literacy and digital marketing trainings and mentoring for 1,000 coffee farmers (60% women and 40% men) as direct participants.

  • Work with the Program Coordinator to develop and support the program strategy to improve use of financial products and services, and use of digital marketing for 1,000 coffee farmers (60% women and 40% men) as direct participants

  • Collaborate with FSPs Partners (regional development bank, insurance company) to strengthen coffee farmers community resilience.

  • Collaborate with the whole project team, contributing to the entire project lifecycle.

  • Organize and monitor schedules and see that deadlines are met.

  • Provide recommendations to the Program Coordinator and all focal points on the related findings from the field or community.

  • Support the coordination and monitoring of project activities at the field level, ensuring implementation schedules are met as per the detailed activity plan, and that adherence to systems for quality project implementation are strengthened.

  • Work with the ROOTS team to compile data provided at the community level as per program requirements and contribute to the preparation of reports, assessments, and evaluations.

  • Work with the ROOTS team to design and produce learning documents, and share to stakeholders through knowledge-sharing events.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.

  • Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members.

  • Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.

Knowledge and Experience 

  • University degree in Agriculture, Social Studies, Economic, Business, or related fields

  • Degree in relevant subject matter or equivalent combination of education and experiences

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with/for NGOs in Economic Opportunity Programs and or Financial Services Providers, particularly for smallholder farmers and women. 

  • Experience collaborates with the national, province, and regency government agencies.

  • Experience collaborates with Financial Services Providers (FSPs). Experience collaboration with insurance companies would be an advantage

  • Training and workshop facilitation skills. 

  • Experience work with a private company or private foundation donor would be an advantage. 

  • The ability to meet deadlines and be agile/flexible.

  • Strong management, team building, and capacity development skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.

  • Experience in supervising staff and understanding the need for regular support and follow-up to ensure that project objectives are being met.
  • Good problem solving and written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Able to write and understandable spoken English are preferred.
