Training And Mentoring Officer (Code : 074-TMO BENTANI ACEH)

General Position Summary 

Training and Mentoring Officer (TMO) will ensure 3,000 women, including female coffee farmers, farmers’ wives, and girls actively engaged in coffee-related and household economic activities  in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah Districts will improve access to education, mentorship, and health services, including financial literacy and financial management, financial products and services including digital financial services and agent networks, digital marketing channels, and WASH and community waste management practices. 

With the Program Manager guidance, S/he will work with the Financial Services and Business Development to collaborate with the Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah district governments to ensure strong coordination and alignment with regional development priorities, with formal financial services providers (FSPs) operating in the region, including Bank Aceh, Bank Syariah Indonesia, and DANA to improve access to relevant financial products and services for program participants, and with other stakeholder related to female coffee farmers/coffee farmers’ wives and young women.

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Prepare the program design and strategies in partnerships with the Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah government agencies, formal financial services providers and digital marketing channels providers that could improve access to education supports of women and girls owned/led micro businesses.

  • Ensure the program will improve access 3,000 women and girls and will improve access to education, mentorship, and health services

  • Prepare the training and mentoring design, modules development, topics and sessions, and pre and posttests tools to achieve third program objectives.

  • Support the MERL Officer to develop a set of visibility tools which will be used to illustrate opportunities and benefits of participating in the program, including participants stories, videos, photos, etc. 

  • Support design and implement the learning events with the Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah Districts governments and strategic partners. 

  • Provide input for the weekly report on project progress, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Provide input for the progress and final reports.

  • Support the Program Manager to develop monthly workplan, budget, and target and provide monthly progress against the target and workplan.

  • Support the Program Manager to develop criteria and consult with local governments, strategic partners, and SFSC to identify the program participants.

  • Support the MERL Officer to conduct needs assessment, GESI assessment, and in consultations with local stakeholders and key partners: 

    • To determine the program locations (subdistricts and villages) in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah districts.

    • To identify constraints and opportunities for the program participants and complete a gap analysis.

  • Support the Program Manager to coordinate with the Starbucks Farmer Support Center (SFSC). 

  • Ensure the data needed for program monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, and report are available. 

  • Maintain close regular contact with the local government agencies, strategic partners, and SFSC to ensure quality output/services and trouble shoot any administrative problems.

  • Attend coordination meetings and maintain regular contact with relevant stakeholders.

  • Conduct travel to project locations to monitor quality of implementation and adjust plans and approaches to meet the program objectives. 

  • Ensure program facilitators have capacity and able to implement program activities to meet the first and second objectives. 

  • Ensure on time and on scope delivery of all program activities and outputs.

  • Participate in the weekly call with the program team and DoP to ensure proper delivery of services.

  • Provide input for the design and survey instrument tools of baseline and endline surveys to collect data of the program participants to measure the program impact.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.

  • Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members.

  • Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.

Knowledge and Experience 

  • University degree in Agriculture, Social Studies, Economic, Business, or related fields

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Development Organizations in Emergency, Recovery and Livelihood Programs. 

  • Experienced collaboration with formal financial services providers. 

  • Experienced collaboration with shariah based formal financial services providers would be an advantage. 

  • Experienced collaboration with digital marketing channels providers. 

  • Experienced in deliver capacity building for female farmers, farmers’ wives, and young women.

  • Experienced in managing local facilitators and understanding the need for regular support and follow-up to ensure that project objectives are being met.

  • Experienced using digital data tools.

  • Commitment to working with vulnerable groups in need regardless of race, religion or gender.

  • Good problem solving and written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work without constant supervision and as part of a mixed team. 

  • Good knowledge of MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and Access.

  • Able to write and understandable spoken English are preferred.
